Last Week Roundup!

Last week on Friday we left for a family reunion, and of course I was so busy, do you think I really remembered to take many photos of our journey? hmmm nope. The day before we had left we had a pretty heavy rainstorm though and i saw this big guy just chillin' on my back patio. Curled up and he was as big as my size 7.5 foot. Can you imagine how big he would have been all stretched out? Good thing worms don't bother me.

Because snacks are oh so important on a road trip.

This was the sky I was greeted with at 4:30 this morning. It was still sprinkling and the thunder had still been rumbling not 20 minutes prior. I feared I wasn't going to get to do an outside run today.

But I'm glad I braved it because about a mile in I was greeted by this beautiful sight.

The run was rough though. A combination of a very strong head wind, and not eating the best foods all weekend took it's toll. My pace was alright, but it wore me out like no other very quickly so i through in the towel at 2 miles.

Until next time!

Packing for a Weekend Away Can Be Exhausting

Yesterday started out like any other day, I did my 3 mile run in the morning, got ready for work and headed out. Nothing to eventual other than I knew I would probably be exhausted by today since I worked both jobs yesterday. You would think sitting at a desk all day can't be that exhausting, but for what I do, I think it's more so mentally draining. Then topping off the night with a 5 hour shift on my feet waiting tables, it takes it's toll. I woke up a bit late this morning, so no run today, but I do plan on waking up early enough to get in my weekday 3 miles before we get on the road tomorrow morning. A 7 hour car ride to my family reunion awaits us.

Looks like a storm is blowing in mid day. Never did produce anything substantial though.

Has anyone tried these? I admit sometimes I feel like I live under a rock and this was my only second variety of Kind bar that I've tried. I was pretty into it, but there is raw quinoa in them. I love quinoa but I'm not sure if I can get over the raw taste of it. I'll finish the box, but not sure if I'd buy again. Do you have any favorite type of granola bar?

So after work today I run home, do a load of laundry, pack for our trip, run to the store to get things for the potluck, make dinner, if the weather holds out attend THREE softball games because as a girlfriend you have to be there to support your man, and if there is any time left over, do my nails. Trivial, but it just makes me feel better. Ha! So here's to hoping I have enough time to get it all done, and not kill myself in the process. *crosses fingers*

Until next time!

Rain rain go away...

June has been a rough month. We've been receiving rain every day this month. I think there may have been one or two days nothing fell from the sky. Although this is lovely for the greenery, it is wrecking havoc on my outdoor runs. My son's baseball was in full force this month, boyfriends softball, working two jobs, *pfew* I'm wore out and ready for the summer of relaxation. The end of this week we head off to a family reunion on my side of the family, then week after that is my sons tournament, then the 4th of July, then...then..then... Does it ever really end? I'm thinking of cutting down even more on my hours at the night job, just so I can be around to do stuff in the evening with my family, other than sitting in bleachers at a peewee game. Don't get me wrong, I love baseball, and I absolutely love watching my son play, but when you combine that with everything else, let's just say, I'm glad it's almost coming to an end.

On another note, you ever have one of those mornings when it hits you that you forgot to do something pretty important as you were walking out of the door for the day? I did. I realized I had forgot to pack a lunch for myself. I was running late as it was and just didn't have time to even make a salad. Thankfully, we had made peas and wild rice pilaf the night before which there were leftovers of, and I had just a bit of roast beef deli meat. Threw it all in the same container and voila! Lunch. I know, my lunches are weird sometimes. I have a coworker that says so. Moving on....

Today, one of the supervisors brought in donuts. Glazed and Raised. How could I say no to that? I couldn't. And I enjoyed ever bite!

Today's lunch was again a bit of leftovers, but at least this time there was a bit more planning involved. We had made steak and rice tacos last night, so I just put some avocado, black olives, romaine lettuce and a bit of ranch with hot sauce in a container, then in a separate container had my rice and steak mixture with a bit of cheddar cheese. Like a taco salad, but without the tortilla chips. One of my favorite lunches actually.

Has anyone tried this gum? I just saw it for the first time in the store the other day. Trident's Island Berry Lime. It really tastes like a margarita. Ah, if only that margarita was on an island paradise....

Until next time! :)

Last Week Roundup!

Lemon water, I just thought it looked pretty in the cup :)

Banana muffin with pineapple and almonds. I could eat a dozen of these they are so good.

Pretty much in love with my new shoes. I noticed the first day I wore them they coincidentally matched my finger nail polish.

Greek yogurt, fresh mango, and granola. Really, it doesn't get any better.

The sun was harsh on Saturday during my son's baseball game. I even had my bag on my lap for half the game. Still managed to get a wicked burn. That will teach me for not wearing the proper sunscreen at a noon game. :(

Saturday evening dinner, salmon, wild rice and peas. One of the staples in my house. It makes me happy that my boyfriend loves fish as much as I do.

Until next time! :)

A day late post (Wednesday 06-17-15)

Yesterday was so humid. Within the first half mile of my run I was ready to throw in the towel and head back home. I always tell myself I'm running for distance, not speed. But it felt like I was moving at a turtles pace. But in the end I wasn't, I had kept my usual cadence. I guess a body just knows where it's comfortable at.

This is the view when I got back. Never mind the obtrusive pole.

And then an hour later some weird fog rolled in.

For breakfast I had the last of my homemade granola with a bit of almond milk. So filling and so good. it is my favorite kind to make with craisins and almonds. I will post the recipe soon.

For lunch it was a quick pasta salad I had thrown together before heading off to the office. Past, tuna, avocado, tomatoes, chickpeas, tossed with some lemon juice, balsamic vinegar, salt and pepper. Doesn't sound like much but it was really quite tasty.

Later on in the evening the sky opened up and there was a massive downpour with insane pink lighting. Had a nice little pond going on over my patio.

The rain is nice but the ground can't hold much more water. Better than a drought I suppose.

Until next time!

To much rain, not enough being outdoors

Sunday should have been a light day. I went out and since it was sprinkling decided I didn't want to get wet and ran on the treadmill.  Nothing crazy just three and a half miles at a light speed. Easy. Then later that day the muscle soreness set in. This is crazy. Monday morning I had woke up and my calves were so tight it was nearly unbearable. I had done a run three days in a row so decided to do some weight lifting instead. Now it's Tuesday and I can hear the pavement calling me. The lighting to the south said no pavement for me today though, and again, I hoped on my treadmill. It may not be the prettiest thing, but it has served me well, it's been through many moves and it's mine. I also don't have to head to a gym to use it so that's always a plus. Someday I may upgrade, but until then...

Don't mind the wall behind, the treadmill is in the garage. You do, what you gotta do.

Like watch reruns of Parks & Rec on the kindle.

Do you run on a treadmill?

Do you watch something or listen to music while running on said treadmill? Or nothing at all?
